Keeping an Eye on Design ... 2.0 style is old school
A recent article on C|NET said the following:
Consumers say they don't want to be encumbered by the complexity of the products they buy. Designers are responding with seamless blends of software, hardware, and aesthetics. Tech designs new philosophy.
Simplicity, Visualization, Personal connection, Beyond the browser, Beyond the browser.

I would venture to say that this has been apparent to the new breed of ID and IA's out there. Simply put - Keep it Simple has always been a request from the user.
Why now to make it happen?
